Make It Green takes climate science into Ghanaian schools and communities and turns it into something a young person can actually do.

The initiative

Make It Green

Make It Green (MIG) is a youth-driven climate initiative that uses the power of music, storytelling, and creative action to inspire environmental awareness and solutions. Born in Africa and built for the world, MIG empowers young people to raise their voices and lead the way in protecting our planet.

By blending art with advocacy, the project contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

How it works

What Make It Green offers

Knowledge translation

We turn big climate terms into simple, everyday language that anyone can understand — because everyone deserves to be part of the conversation.

Eco Aloud

A short-form video series that explains climate topics through storytelling, everyday analogies, visuals and youth voices. It makes climate education relatable, exciting and easy to grasp.

Community outreach

From classrooms to market stalls, cocoa farms to street corners, Make It Green goes where the people are — engaging communities in the languages they speak and in ways that fit their daily lives.

Creative advocacy

Using music, poetry and short films we bring climate issues to life and inspire grassroots action. When words fail, rhythm and storytelling take over.

July 2026

Into the schools

Make It Green spent July 2026 in Ghanaian classrooms and school compounds — a session on what a changing climate means where these children live, then watering cans and seedlings in their hands before we left.

What has been done so far

We label an activity as an activity, the people it reached as reach, and only a documented result as an outcome.

Creative advocacy

  • ActivityReleased Make It Green, a climate anthem written to carry environmental messaging to a general audience.
  • ActivityLaunched Eco Aloud, an online series translating climate concepts into everyday language.

Schools

  • ActivityRan climate-smart sessions in selected schools, and Climate-Smart School Garden sessions on climate change and youth involvement in agriculture.
  • ActivityDelivered a schools outreach in July 2026, ending with pupils planting seedlings on their own school grounds.

Farming communities

  • ActivityHeld local outreach sessions with cocoa farmers on the pressures a changing climate places on their crop.
  • ActivityEngaged young growers at the Youth in Greenhouse Project, KNUST on climate-smart vegetable farming and sustainable crop production.
