Kwadwo Ampofo-Agyemang
Founder and Director
MSc Social Work and Social Policy, University of Huddersfield, and currently a doctoral student in Social Welfare at the University at Albany, New York. His research covers child protection systems, social and environmental justice, and culture and diversity. Member of the Social Policy Association, the Ghana Association of Social Workers and the British Association of Social Workers. He leads Aware International in its vision to empower the African child.
Dr. Bright Asare (MD)
Chairperson
Dr. Bright joins the team with extensive leadership experience in the health and social work sectors. He has served in various leadership and political positions at the KNUST College of Health and currently serves as the Clinical Care and Training Coordinator at Kuntaase Government Hospital. His primary area of professional practice is paediatric childcare.
Ms. Harriet Frimpong
Vice Chairperson
A human resources consultant to several corporate organisations and a member of the Ghana Association of Social Workers. Her work centres on women’s empowerment, and that focus shapes how she guides Aware International’s work with girls.
Ms. Esther Asieduwaa Opoku (Esq.)
Secretary
A human rights lawyer. Her practice concerns gender justice and the substantive equality of women — the distance between equal treatment on paper and equal standing in practice — and she leads on it by example.
Mr. Kwame Aboagye Mensah
Programmes Coordinator
Programmes coordinator since 2023, leading Sound and Color Africa and the Make It Green campaign. He is also a director at ASFAM Global and a senior relationship officer at Multimedia Group Limited.
The Board provides strategic oversight, governance and accountability. Management is responsible for day-to-day delivery.
