To educate, inspire and empower children and young people in Ghana — through learning, climate action, culture and advocacy — so that they hold the knowledge, the skills and the voice to shape their own lives and their communities.

A just and sustainable Africa where every child and young person lives with dignity, opportunity and safety — and has a real say in the decisions that shape their lives and their environment.
In brief
Who we are
Aware International is a Ghanaian non-governmental organisation based in Kumasi, working with children and young people. We are organised into four areas of work — Education, Climate, Culture & Creative Expression, and Advocacy — delivered through five programmes. A board provides governance and oversight; a management team, twelve employees and twenty-two volunteers deliver the work.
Where we work
Ghana, and mostly the Ashanti Region
We are based in Kumasi. Our work runs through schools, farming communities and creative spaces close by.
Schools
Classrooms and school compounds across the Ashanti Region — among them Our Lady of Grace Senior High School in Mamponteng, Christ the King International School, and the schools visited in the July 2026 Make It Green outreach.
Farming communities
Cocoa-growing communities and smallholder farms, including field research with women farmers in Abuakwa DKC and outreach with cocoa farmers on a changing climate.
Universities and creative spaces
Young growers at the Youth in Greenhouse Project at KNUST, and the Kumasi venues that have hosted three editions of Culture Aloud.
Accountability
How we are governed
A board provides strategic oversight, governance and accountability. Management is responsible for day-to-day delivery.

Management
Kwadwo Ampofo-Agyemang, Founder and Director. Mr. Kwame Aboagye Mensah, Programmes Coordinator. Twelve employees and twenty-two volunteers deliver the work.
Reporting
We publish an annual report setting out activity and finances. In 2024 income was GH¢223,500 and expenditure GH¢170,000, with 60% going directly to programmes.
