Impact Story: Ama Okwai
Ama Okwai, a 101-year-old resident of Abuakwa, Kumasi, has been part of the Aware Cares family for over two years. When she first joined our program, her family was concerned about her mobility, loneliness, and the difficulty she faced managing daily tasks. With gentle support and consistent companionship, Ama has regained confidence and joy. She now shares vibrant stories from her youth, enjoys her favourite meals with assistance, and participates in light exercises that keep her active and engaged.
Ama often tells our team,
“You people have given me back my strength. Now I don’t feel alone.”
Her renewed happiness reminds us of the heart of our work.
